Good things do come to those who (actively) wait. Am truly blessed.
The Rose, written by Amanda McBroom is one of those songs which simply touch my heart tenderly, always. It has been covered by various artists, but my favourite version is by Bette Midler and LeAnn Rimes. Just read the lyrics.. there are only three verses. Just read..
And the night has been too lonely,
And the road has been too long,
And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong,
Just remember, in the winter, far beneath the brittle snow,
Lies a seed, with the sun’s love, in the spring
Becomes a rose
You can of course say that I love the song because am in love now, like a rose. Truth is, it feels that I – the seed – have been waiting for the sun. I can’t rush love to come to me, neither can I force it to happen.
However it is not just sitting there and hope for the best.
It’s the heart afraid of breaking that never learns to dance
It’s the dream afraid of waking that never takes the chance
It’s the one who won’t be taken who cannot seem to give
And the soul afraid of dying that never learnt to live.
I have had the flings and crushes who I tried to give, normally as much as I can. Most of the time it hurts, sometimes it just dies down, but by now I could just smile over them, because if it weren’t for these stubborn acts in giving (in the name of “love”), dare I say I would not have been so happy with Tyas now.
Not to mention that love is not everything in life – I live a good, busy life when I was single. So the “wait” was not at all passive. I call it active waiting.
(I twitted about active waiting and Article19 replied, “Is it like moving stillness?” *smile* something like that, it’s a Chinese dance thing!)
And one should never stop believing in the good energy that love brings…
Some say love it is a river that drowns the tender reed
Some say love it is a razor that leads your soul to bleed
Some say love it is a hunger – an endless aching need
I say love it is a flower – and you, is only seed.
(I promise Part 2 will not be about love per se!)
